HIGH-impact industries including electronics and electrical (E&E), semiconductors, automotive, the Blue Economy and medical devices are taking centre stage as preparations for Budget 2027 enter their final phase.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the sectors were among those being engaged through the nationwide Budget roadshow to identify industry needs and opportunities that could strengthen economic growth.
He said the medical devices industry had particularly strong potential to produce high-value products for export markets while creating quality jobs for Malaysians.
“So, this is one of the sectors with high economic diversification and the potential to increase employment opportunities in the country, while creating better value here.
“When we hold this Budget roadshow, our objective is to receive proposals from the sectors that are effective.
“The proposals collected will be screened, with some incorporated into the Budget while others will be studied further with the relevant ministries and agencies.”
The Budget roadshow has so far covered Tawau, Perak and Penang, with Kulim, Kedah, next on the schedule. - September 14, 2026
