JOHOR BARU – Johor water supplier Ranhill SAJ recorded 20% lower revenue in May, when the movement control order (MCO) had yet to be relaxed.

CEO Nor Ifuan Md Nor said the reduced consumption that month was due to the closure of most industries.

“At the outset of the MCO, the income reduction was quite significant because of factory closures.

“Normal operations have largely resumed since... and the income reduction is now only 5%,” he told a press conference after the company’s Health Day programme here today.

He noted a change in water consumption patterns, with domestic consumption higher than that of the industrial sector.

“This is due to the fact that many small and medium industries are still not fully operational, and many people are still staying home.” – Bernama, September 27, 2020
