KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan has outlined three main thrusts to develop the state from this year to 2025.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor said the three thrusts will cover three main economic sectors – agriculture, industry and tourism – and focus on human capital, public well-being, as well as green infrastructure and sustainability networks.
“The three main thrusts will be driven by five enablers – digital government, effective and efficient delivery, excellence in integrity, fiscal sustainability and financial facilities.”
He said SMJ is not a personal plan owned by the chief minister and cabinet members, nor is it the right of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government or a plan just for civil servants.
“SMJ is our road map and the state’s coat of arms, which is the right and property of all Sabahans.”
Hajiji launched the development plan, which also outlines five implementation objectives, at the Sabah International Convention Centre here today.
He said the plan will move in line with the national development agenda under the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030, and is a manifestation of GRS’ commitment that was pledged during the 16th state election last year.
“To ensure SMJ achieves its goals, every core and enabler will be supported by various initiatives.
“To date, 584 initiatives covering 304 cores and 280 enablers have been drafted for implementation starting this year.”
Hajiji said SMJ’s success depends on Putrajaya’s commitment, adding that its realisation shall be aspired by the Malaysia Agreement 1963. – The Vibes, March 29, 2021
