KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia remains on a downtrend this morning amid tepid bargain-hunting activities.

At 9.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slid 2.77 points to 1,541.94 from yesterday’s close of 1,544.71.

The market bellwether opened 2.32 of-a-point lower at 1,542.39.

On the broader market, losers edged past gainers 183 to 180, while 309 counters were unchanged, 1,549 untraded, and 67 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 465.73 million units valued at RM159.77 million.

The ringgit opened slightly lower against the US dollar this morning as the oil price had declined amid concerns that the spread of the Covid-19 Delta variant would ease demand for fuel, an analyst said.

At 9.03am, the local note declined to 4.1470/1500 versus the greenback from 4.1445/1495 at yesterday’s close.

At the time of writing, benchmark Brent crude oil slipped 0.17% to US$74.55 (RM309.49) per barrel. – Bernama, June 29, 2021
