KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened lower today, but rose soon after on renewed buying interest.  

At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up 1.23 points to 1,533.59 from yesterday’s close of 1,532.36. 

The market bellwether opened 0.44 of a point lower at 1,531.92.  

On the broader market, gainers led losers 222 to 115, while 272 counters were unchanged, 1,563 untraded and eight suspended.

Meanwhile, the ringgit opened marginally higher against the United States dollar, supported by firmer crude oil prices.

At 9am, the local note ticked up to 4.1555/1590 against the greenback from 4.1560/1575 at the close yesterday.

At the time of writing, international benchmark Brent crude was 0.09% higher at US$77.23 per barrel. – Bernama, July 6, 2021
