PUTRAJAYA – All handling, receiving, loading and unloading activities for imported non-essential goods, and cargo for export and import purposes in areas under the enhanced movement control order are allowed from today to Sunday, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.

In a statement, he said the National Security Council (NSC) granted special permission in a letter dated July 13 so as to reduce congestion at certain ports, some of which have reached 80% capacity.

He said loading and unloading activities are permitted to continue on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays according to NSC standard operating procedures.

“The ministry will continue to monitor the status of ports and airports to ensure goods and cargo can continue to be transported safely under the strict Covid-19 prevention procedures stipulated by NSC.”

He said exporters, importers and warehouse operators must first get police approval and be in possession of cargo-related documents, along with a list of workers. – Bernama, July 15, 2021
