KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened lower today, with the key index falling 0.24% after yesterday’s strong performance. 

At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI eased 3.69 points to 1,519.90 from 1,523.59 at the close yesterday.

The index opened 1.39 points higher at 1,524.98.

On the broader market, losers led gainers 188 to 123, while 271 counters were unchanged, 1,618 untraded and eight suspended.

The ringgit, meanwhile, opened easier versus the United States dollar on a lack of buying interest, as investors remain cautious amid the country’s political uncertainty.

At 9am, the local note stood at 4.2400/2440 against the greenback from yesterday’s close of 4.2370/2380. – Bernama, August 18, 2021
