KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened lower this morning, extending yesterday’s downtrend as investors remain cautious over the weak external development amid lack of domestic catalysts, dealers said.

At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shed 4.78 points to 1,517.69 from yesterday’s close of 1,522.47.

It opened 0.23 of-a-point lower at 1,522.24.

Meanwhile, the ringgit opened easier against the US dollar today as the greenback found firmer buying support ahead of the US jobs data report later this week, an analyst said.

At 9am, the local note fell to 4.1745/1780 versus the greenback from yesterday’s closing of 4.1730/1760. – Bernama, October 5, 2021
