KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia was mixed in early trade today, with the key index retreating from its gains yesterday on profit taking, while the broader market performed better due to buying in small-capitalisation stocks.

At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI eased 1.52 points to 1,557.9 from yesterday’s close of 1,559.42.

It opened 1.18 points easier at 1,558.24.

The ringgit, meanwhile, opened higher against the United States dollar on a technical correction after the greenback strengthened yesterday following a firmer US non-farm payrolls data report.

At 9am, the local note rebounded to 4.1782/1820 versus the dollar from 4.1825/1845 at the close yesterday. – Bernama, October 7, 2021
