KUALA LUMPUR – Zurich Malaysia has appointed Nazrul Hisham Abd Hamid as chief executive officer of Zurich Takaful Malaysia Bhd effective immediately, replacing Mukesh Dhawan.

Prior to joining Zurich Takaful, Nazrul was CEO of Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Bhd, the insurer said in a statement today.

Its country head, Junior Cho, said Nazrul’s new responsibilities include leading strategic priorities for Zurich’s family takaful business to grow and strengthen.

“He has more than 25 years of expertise in this line of business, of which over a decade was in the takaful industry covering both family and general takaful sales and operations,” he said.

Cho said as part of its succession planning and nurturing local leadership talent, Zurich Malaysia is pleased to welcome Nazrul as the new Zurich Takaful CEO.

“I look forward to him leading the route for sustainable business growth by delivering on our promises in line with our mission to create a brighter future and further enhancing Zurich Malaysia’s position,” he added.
