FOUR people were killed and four others injured in a crash involving 11 vehicles at Kilometre 110.4 of the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), on the Lanchang-Kuantan-bound stretch, last night.
The incident occurred at 10.44pm and involved several cars, an express bus and a tanker lorry, according to the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
“Three victims died in a car while another died in a sport utility vehicle (SUV).
“Two of the victims who died were identified as Muhammad Nazatullah Nazmi, 32, and Nur Atiqah Sofiya Mohd Kazwan, 31, while the other two victims have yet to be identified,” the department said in a statement following the tragedy .
Four other people were injured, including two who were trapped in vehicles, one passenger and another who sustained minor injuries.
All 30 passengers on the express bus involved in the crash escaped unhurt.
The injured victims were handed over to the Health Ministry for further treatment, while the bodies of those killed were handed over to police for further action.
The rescue operation involved 21 firefighters from the Mentakab, Temerloh and Karak Fire and Rescue Stations.
The operation was brought under control at 2.48am and fully completed at 2.50am.
The crash also caused congestion stretching about 7.2 kilometres, from Kilometre 109.2 to Kilometre 116.4, affecting traffic between Lanchang and Temerloh. - September 1, 2026
