KUALA LUMPUR – Beleaguered electronics firm ATA IMS Bhd has been hit with another blow when its chief operating officer (COO) Datuk Balachandran Govindasamy tendered his resignation effective today.
In a Bursa Malaysia announcement earlier, the Johor-based electronic manufacturing services provider said that the 47-year-old executive had stepped down due “health issues”.
Balachandran had served the company for the past two decades under its unit ATA Industrial (M) Sdn Bhd and was appointed to the company’s main board in February 2018.
He owns a direct stake of 0.81% and an indirect interest of 7.15% at group level.
The Edge reported that the company was accused of alleged forced labour and announced that Dyson was severing ties with them on November 25.
The termination of their contract with Dyson Operations and Dyson Manufacturing will take effect on June 1, 2022 after an audit of ATA’s operations by Dyson. – The Vibes, December 31, 2021
