KUALA LUMPUR – The ringgit stayed above RM4.52 level against the US dollar at the opening today as the greenback continued its relentless rise towards an all-time high in response to the United States’ latest bullish core Producer Price Index data.

At 9.05am, the local currency slid to 4.5270/5305 against the greenback from 4.5265/5285 at yesterday’s close. 

Meanwhile, Bursa Malaysia opened on a positive note today, taking its cue from the Wall Street’s rebound overnight after the previous selloff due to rate hike concerns, a dealer said. 

At 9.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI increased by 9.57 points to 1,478.01 from yesterday’s close of 1,468.44.

The benchmark index opened 4.92 points higher at 1,473.36.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 188 to 81, while 180 counters were unchanged, 1,902 untraded and 21 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 132.21 million units worth RM60.82 million. – Bernama, September 15, 2022
