EVERY singer harbours a wish to have a festive song of their own, yet whether that dream comes to fruition often depends on timing and opportunity.

For Bella Astillah, the aspiration has finally become reality with the release of her first Hari Raya single, Ya Raya, a collaboration between Universal Music Malaysia and Fipper.

The launch positions Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah as the first artist to release a Hari Raya track this year.

“I have long wanted to release a Raya song, and when the collaboration with Fipper came along, the dream became much easier to realise.

“Previously, I had a Raya song with Didi Astillah, but it was not a solo piece. It feels wonderful to finally be able to perform my own song at upcoming events,” she told HibGlam.

Bella described the recording process as smooth and said she received substantial guidance from composers Rudeen and Exactesy.

The mother of two revealed she fell in love with the musical arrangement, which skilfully fuses modern and traditional elements.

Adding to the experience, her father, Awang Astillah, was present in the studio, offering opinions and constructive criticism throughout the recording.

“Raya songs are usually easy to listen to and memorable, not overly modern. I have always loved classic Raya tunes, but for this collaboration with Fipper, we needed a catchy element, and I am grateful for the extraordinary result.

“Since childhood, my father has been part of my artistic journey. His presence in the studio was invaluable, and he was honest in giving feedback,” she said.

Beyond music, Bella maintains a busy schedule during Ramadan, juggling filming for several programmes, fashion campaigns, and her longstanding kuih raya (Raya delicacies) business.

“Besides the Raya song, I am involved in cooking programmes, promoting Raya outfits, and, God willing, after Raya I will return to a drama set. I still make kuih raya! This year’s workload is heavier, but I hope, God willing, to continue producing and selling them,” she said.

Despite her many commitments, Bella emphasised that all her opportunities are blessings from God, and she approaches them with gratitude.

“I am thankful that I am still able to work and do not wish to question it, because all of this is provision from Allah SWT. Nothing lasts forever; I will accept it and carry it out with an open heart. I hope what I do benefits others and brings blessings for my children,” she added.

When asked about being dubbed an ‘iron lady’ for her determination and hard work, the Sabah-born singer expressed appreciation for the positive recognition.

“The title is significant, but in reality, there are many ordinary women who are even more deserving, though they are not in front of the camera. I truly appreciate it; all mothers are iron ladies, whether people see it or not. For now, I simply follow God’s plan and am grateful to everyone who continues to support me,” she said.

With Ya Raya, Bella Astillah not only realises a personal ambition but demonstrates how tradition and modernity can harmoniously coexist, all while exemplifying the resilience and dedication of women balancing family, career, and creative aspirations. - February 23, 2026
