PEOPLE in need of satisfying their fascination with aristocracy should be excited to know a new instalment in the ‘Downton Abbey’ series is around the corner.
Originally a massively successful television show that aired from 2010 to 2016, ‘Downton’ follows the Crawley family as they navigate through a socially tumultuous Britain of a century ago.
Focus Features says production is currently underway and alongside Carnival Films, said that creator Julian Fellowes and all the original main cast members – including Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael and Michelle Dockery – would return.
They later confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Maggie Smith was also returning, despite uncertainty following a storyline in the first film.

New additions include Dominic West, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock and Nathalie Baye. Simon Curtis will direct.
"There’s no place like home for the holidays, and we can’t imagine a better gift than getting to reunite with Julian, Gareth, and the entire Downton family in 2021 to bring the Crawley’s back home for their fans," said Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski.
The 2019 film earned more than US$194 million (RM800 million) at the box office, from a budget estimated at US$13 million-20 million. – The Vibes, April 20, 2021
