RAMADAN is the month of reflection and submitting oneself fully to Allah. So with that in mind, I decided to go to Masjid Jamek Kuala Lumpur on April 7, the fifth day of Ramadan, to capture the mood and scene of the holy month.
I waited quite a while for these two spiritual moments to happen simultaneously. Initially, I saw an old man in deep connection with the Quran, so I explored several angles to capture his photo without disturbing him. I finally found the best spot which was from the side, as I could include the Islamic wall art in my shot.
A few moments later, two friends stepped inside the mosque and began performing prayers. I quickly moved to their side and captured the second shot, which depicts both groups of men conducting prayers and reciting the Quran at the same time.
I am glad that I got to capture the pictures I had in mind. The one hour spent in the mosque was worth the wait. I learned to be patient and humbled by the men's connection to God despite it being the middle of the day.
It makes me reflect that despite our busy schedule, we must make time for Allah, to connect and to thank Him for the abundance of blessings. – The Vibes, April 17, 2022
