FOR many born at the end of the 20th century, Kuala Lumpur, or at least the idea of it, being Malaysia’s capital has long been stamped across many papers and embedded in countless minds.

It has been 50 years since the district gained its official city status – a relatively recent formation, compared to other world metropolises.

That said, Kuala Lumpur is rich with events, old and new, that helped shape what we know it as today.

Steeped in history, tradition and politics, the origin of this muddy confluence predates even before its recognition as a federal capital.

Love it or hate it, it is hard to picture the identity of our nation without the rush and soul that breathe life into this city.

Join us as we look at the past, present and future aspirations of KL, pinning down its identity and hope of becoming ‘A City For All’.

From the formation of federal territory to landmark moments that played a central role in etching lifestyle and traditions specific to it, this is the story of Kuala Lumpur… – The Vibes, May 1, 2022
