KUALA LUMPUR – Local box office hit Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan continues to shine among cinema audiences when director Syamsul Yusof shared that collections have almost reached the RM100 million mark.

In an interview with Malay online daily Harian Metro, Syamsul said yesterday: "Mat Kilau continues to reign in cinemas. It's the 'king of films' in Malaysia right now, with ticket sales as high as RM97 million”.

He further emphasised how the movie is now in the same standing as Hollywood productions. Shamsul believed that the time would come when Malaysian films could compete with international counterparts on the global box office charts.

"Thank you, viewers, thank you, supporters. You've made the impossible happen. Keep up the good work, and continue to support Malaysian films!" he cheerily announced. – The Vibes, September 13, 2022
