AFTER a ticketing foul-up this week, sales and distribution company Ticketmaster has apologised to Taylor Swift and her fans.

Many "Swifties" were left disappointed when they could not buy tickets for Swift's 2023 "Eras" tour earlier this week. Ticketmaster eventually decided to cancel the general sales, according to Huffpost.

Lawmakers have also taken the company to task for its poor operations.

In a social media posting on Friday, Ticketmaster said: “We want to apologise to Taylor, and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets.

“We feel we owe it to everyone to share some information to help explain what happened," it wrote.

The company also included a link to a detailed explanation of the reasons why Swift's fans cannot buy tickets on its website.

On the first day of sales, Tuesday, customers were quickly prevented from purchasing due to the high demand. There were complaints that the website sent customers back to the beginning of the thousand-long virtual queue.

Many also claimed that the site was not loading and blocked access to tickets – despite verified fans having pre-sale codes.

The ‘Bad Blood’ singer called out the “excruciating” mess, apologising to her fans on Friday.

“It goes without saying that I’m extremely protective of my fans,” Swift wrote in an Instagram story.

“It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.”

She did not name Ticketmaster but referenced the ticketing failure.

“There are a multitude of reasons why people had such a hard time trying to get tickets, and I’m trying to figure out how this situation can be improved moving forward,” she said.

“I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them multiple times if they could handle this kind of demand, and we were assured they could.”

Swift conceded that it was “truly amazing” that 2.4 million people got tickets.

“But it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them,” she said. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
