THE Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will be holding a Family Fun Day concert on May 4, 2024 at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) themed Mission Earth.
The concert is presented by Alasdair Malloy, who is a familiar figure among the MPO audience.
In a statement, MPO said the concert is set to entice young audiences and parents alike to orbit the Earth with the mission to discover what the four colours which can be seen from space represent.
"The MPO will present delightful songs which reveal what the blue, red, white and green areas are on the planet as well as discover the amazing wonders of nature such as animal and insect lives, and the weather including a beautiful sunset.
"Audience will revel in songs such as Strauss’ The Dragonfly and Also Sprach Zarathustra, Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Mendelsohn’s The Hebrides, Tchaikovsky’s Arabian Dance from The Nutcracker, Scott’s The Penguin, Britten’s The Storm and Portman’s Sunsets from The Little Prince,".
All songs are arranged by Malloy for a concert of uplifting and inspiring melodies.
Besides the MPO, Malloy is a regular guest with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony, The Orchestra of Opera North and Sinfonia Viva.
A glass harmonica specialist, he has also showcased his amazing talent in the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Europe.
The concert will be helmed by young, local conductor Jebat Arjuna Kee and is suitable for adults and children aged four and above. - The Vibes, April 18, 2024
