TAN Sri Michelle Yeoh came out on top once again, winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performance in the universe hopping mindbender 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'.
The actor dropped an F-bomb out of excitement during her acceptance speech as she was overcome with emotion.
"Thank you for giving me a seat at the table because so many of us need this, we want to be seen, we want to be heard, and tonight you have shown us that it is possible and I’m grateful and my mum will be eternally grateful to you," she said.
With the Academy Awards just a couple of weeks away on March 12, this win all but seals the celebrated Malaysian actor’s frontrunner status for the top prize in acting for 2022.
She beat out Cate Blanchett ('Tár'), Viola Davis ('The Woman King'), Ana de Armas ('Blonde'), and Danielle Deadwyler ('Till'). Blanchett is considered her biggest rival for the Oscar.
The awards ceremony, which focuses on actors on film and television, and are voted on by members of the screen actor’s union heavily rewarded 'Everything Everywhere All At Once', with the movie also winning Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role (Jamie Lee Curtis), Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Ke Huy Quan), and the biggest award Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
