FOLLOWING in the success of her debut collaboration with Los Angeles-based songwriter Denise Dimin, Lyia Meta returns once more with another album, Always You.
Bringing back the music that encapsulated the Jazz Pop genre of the 50s and 60s, Lyia recorded the album working through different time zones between Nashville, Tennessee, in the US, and Rio de Janiero in Brazil, and Malaysia.
Always You is comprised of eight gorgeous tracks that ebb and flow with Lyia’s unique smoky, smooth and sultry delivery of timeless songs of love, loss and whimsy. Lyia’s vocal timbre is powerful yet mellow.
Harking back to the roots of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson and Peggy Lee, with a nod and a bow to Norah Jones and Dianna Krall, the album expresses a retro 'New Great American Songbook' melodic style and approach to fusing jazz and pop.
Lyia Meta is an international multi award-winning singer and songwriter, as well as an exhibited visual artist. Of Creole Portuguese ancestry, Lyia is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, though her musical journeys have taken her around the globe. Lyia finds her greatest influences in rock and the blues, yet she defies genre barriers, delivering a refreshing sound that speaks to listeners across generations worldwide.
“In my entire career as a live circuit performer and an artist, I have found that being true to myself and my influences is what makes me the artist I am.
"What is uniquely ‘me’?
"Who I am is very simply heard in my music!
"With the album ‘Always You’’, the story continues as I attempt to retell the words written by songwriter Denise Dimin through my own experiences and emotions.
"Always You is my latest chapter as I continue my musical journey.” – The Vibes, June 24, 2023
