THE Group Managing Director of the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), Datuk Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim, has achieved another milestone in his academic and professional journey after receiving his third Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), this time in Management and Administration, from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM).

He was concurrently named the recipient of the Tuanku Chancellor’s Award for Excellence (Social Sciences), the highest honour bestowed upon the university’s best doctoral graduate.

The conferment was personally presented by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, Chancellor of UPNM, during the university’s 15th Convocation Ceremony.

UPNM said the selection of Commander (Honorary) Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr Irmohizam was based on the strength of his research, academic discipline and the significant impact of his work on the field of social sciences and leadership.

This latest doctorate marks a remarkable chapter in his long-standing commitment to lifelong learning.

The WTCKL chief described the achievement as both a personal triumph and a professional motivator.

“This accomplishment is not merely the result of commitment and love for knowledge, but also a source of encouragement to continue strengthening WTCKL, the industry I lead, and to contribute to national development. Knowledge is not just an academic pursuit; it is the main foundation to drive innovation and to remain visible, relevant and reliable,” he said.

WTCKL stated that the accomplishment enhances the organisation’s standing as one led by an individual who excels not only in trade and corporate leadership but also in scholarship and research.

The organisation said that knowledge-driven leadership is essential for advancing Malaysia’s business events ecosystem and reinforcing the country’s position as an international events destination.

WTCKL extended its congratulations, describing the honour as aligned with the values and professionalism Irmohizam brings to the business events industry as he steers its transformation in Malaysia.

The institution added that Irmohizam’s academic distinction strengthens his profile as a national figure capable of merging industry expertise with intellectual rigour, a combination it described as critical for modern leadership.

Dr Irmohizam also expressed profound gratitude to UPNM, particularly to his lead supervisor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Norhasni Zainal Abiddin, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Development), for her guidance throughout his doctoral journey.
