UNIVERSITI Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), through the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business (FKP), continues to be committed to developing holistic accounting graduates, who are not only technically competent, but also able to think as ethical business advisors and are responsible to society and the environment.

This commitment was expressed through the organisation of the “Accountants Back to Nature @ UMK-TRaCe” programme, a real-world application-based learning initiative involving 59 Third Year Bachelor of Accounting (SAA) students.

The programme is a high-impact additional effort that is managed and organised entirely by students, with the guidance of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business, UMK.

According to the programme director, Najmuddin Mohd Johari, it is implemented in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UMK.

It is also organised with the Pulau Banding Foundation, in line with efforts to strengthen collaboration between higher learning institutions and strategic partners in the development of education, community and sustainability.

“Among the main contents of the programme was the community involvement in Kampung Klewang, involving football and sports activities with the Orang Asli community, in addition to the donation of necessities to the community.

“The programme was also accompanied by a cultural sharing session with the local community, which gives students a space to understand the value of the life of the Orang Asli and the importance of social sensitivity in the future professional context,” he said.

Najmuddin said the programme received support from several external organisations and industries, including several accounting firms.

“This support reflects the ecosystem of industry and professional collaboration in the development of future accountants.

“Overall, this programme demonstrates UMK’s comprehensive approach in shaping accounting graduates who are not only knowledgeable, but also have social awareness, environmental understanding and the ability to contribute to the sustainable development of society and the country,” he added. – January 13, 2026
