The Kelantan Road Transport Department (RTD) has denied allegations that an accident in Kampung Rahmat Bukit Bunga, Tanah Merah, yesterday, which resulted in the death of a man, was caused by a department vehicle.

Its director, Mohd Misuari Abdullah, said that the department views the spread of inaccurate information on social media regarding yesterday's accident.

"The allegation that the accident was caused by an RTD vehicle chasing a lorry, as shown in the 34-second video, is untrue and unfounded.

"The department's vehicle at the time was carrying out an official patrol in conjunction with Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026, and the personnel involved complied with the operating procedures and traffic regulations set.

"RTD would like to emphasise that any further investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). The public is advised not to speculate or spread unverified information until the investigation is complete," he said in a statement.

RTD also expressed sympathy for the accident victim and offered condolences to the family of the deceased.

"May the deceased be blessed and placed among the faithful. For the injured victims, RTD prays for a speedy recovery for all.

"RTD remains committed to carrying out enforcement duties professionally, with integrity and prudence to ensure the safety of road users is always maintained," said Mohd Misuari.

It was reported that the son of Astro Awani's senior editor died in an accident involving two vehicles in Bukit Bunga, at about 4.30 pm.
