KUALA LUMPUR – Even as physical classes are set to resume next month, parents will have the option of not sending their children to school, said Education Minister Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.
In a press conference today, he said no disciplinary action will be taken against students who do not show up for in-person classes.
“I have advised schools not to give out warning letters. Parents, however, must write a letter to explain to the school if they choose to keep their children at home.”
Schools will reopen in stages from October 3. Those in states under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan will continue with online lessons.
Radzi said students are allowed to wear appropriate clothes to school should their uniforms no longer fit.
“Co-curricular activities are not allowed, but PE (physical education) classes can be conducted. Students and teachers must wear masks. Double-masking is encouraged.”
Students with Covid-19 symptoms are advised to stay home. Should there be cases of those attending in-person classes exhibiting symptoms, a screening will be conducted. – The Vibes, September 12, 2021
