KOTA KINABALU – A proposal to extend the school holidays due to the current heatwave will be brought up for discussion at the state cabinet level, said Education executive councillor Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
He said that the matter will also be discussed at the federal and state Education Department levels.
“I will also hold a meeting with the district education offices to get views as well as information related to education,” he told reporters after the state government’s Aidilfitri open house at the Sabah International Convention Centre here today.
The event was attended by Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M. Jasni, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, and the state government leadership.
On Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported to have said that the federal cabinet should discuss extending the school holidays, amid a heatwave that has led to the deaths of two children. – Bernama, April 30, 2023
