KUALA LUMPUR – Parts of the city centre here, especially in Bangsar, came to a halt due to the #TangkapAzamBaki rally yesterday.
Not only were many roads leading to the city centre closed due to the rally, train services such as the LRT, MRT and Monorail to several stations in the capital were also suspended between 7am to 12pm to prevent protesters from gathering at the Sogo Shopping Complex, the originally intended gathering location.
The move by the authorities to curb the protest movement failed to deter roughly 400 of them from gathering at Bangsar LRT station to show their dissatisfaction over the issue involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Tan Sri Azam Baki.
The #TangkapAzamBaki rally, supported by over 30 civil society groups, was held at Jalan Bangsar following a last-minute change of location due to the curbs imposed by the authorities in anticipation of the rally.
