THE son of a 68-year-old FELDA settler who was allegedly hacked to death in FELDA Lok Heng Selatan yesterday is struggling to understand why his father was attacked.

The 40-year-old, who declined to be named, said he rushed home from Pengerang after a friend called to tell him that a man had gone on a rampage and his father had been attacked.

“I was shocked to hear that my father had been hacked. I don’t know what the motive was,” he said when met at the Forensic Medicine Department of Pasir Gudang Hospital today.

He said he did not believe his father knew the suspect, who is 41, as their houses were some distance apart despite being in the same settlement.

“The suspect is still young, while my father was 68. Although they lived in the same village, their houses were far apart,” he said.

The eldest of two siblings said his father lived with his 58-year-old wife, his younger sibling and the latter’s spouse.

He last saw his father on Saturday, during his usual weekend visit to the family home. His father had appeared well, with no known health problems, and they had shared a meal together.

“My father was healthy and had no illnesses or known medical problems. When I saw him that day, everything was fine,” he said.

The family is leaving the investigation to the police and hopes justice will be served.

Describing the alleged attack as cruel, he said any disagreement should have been resolved through discussion.

“If there was a problem, they should have talked it out. Our family still does not know what motivated the attack,” he said.

The settler was reported to have died yesterday after allegedly being attacked with a machete.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the 41-year-old suspect was arrested in an oil palm plantation in Kota Tinggi at 10.26 am today. - October 27, 2026
