KOTA KINABALU – The Kota Kinabalu Food Assistance project is providing needy residents and some medical frontliners here with freshly cooked meals daily for free.

Some 800 free meals will be distributed every day beginning November through a collaboration between Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin’s service centre, and local non-governmental organisations and associations.

Patrick Chia, the service centre’s chief liaison officer, said the lunch packs will be prepared with ingredients donated by donors such as rice, fish, meat, and vegetables.

He said with the conditional movement control order being imposed in Sabah, many of the city's residents, especially those from the B40 group, have found it hard to make ends meet.

"Our volunteers, made up of students, housewives, and businessmen, assist in various tasks including kitchen work and disinfection,” said Chia.

He said 30 packs are also given each day to medical frontliners at the Likas Women and Children’s Hospital. – The Vibes, November 12, 2020
