TERENGGANU Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has confirmed that a photo circulating on social media since yesterday, showing a person sitting at an airport, is indeed him.

Ahmad Samsuri mentioned that the picture was taken by a member of the public at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Sabah, on April 7, reported The New Straits Times.

This confirmation comes after Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain denied on April 11 that Ahmad was listed under a "special circular list," which contradicted earlier statements.

Samsuri, who is also a PAS vice-president, explained that he was "held for checks" when he arrived and departed from Kota Kinabalu International Airport on April 6 and 7, respectively.

"My statement, which includes 18 paragraphs or points made on Thursday (April 10), was prepared after the incident where I was pulled aside for checks during my time in Sabah on Sunday (April 6) and my return on Monday (April 7)," he shared briefly via WhatsApp.

A photo claiming to show Ahmad Samsuri sitting in an airport chair went viral on social media yesterday.

It is believed that the image was taken by a passerby who was at the airport to see off a group. The caption of the image suggested that Ahmad Samsuri was stopped by several officers at the departure gate before being taken aside for further inspection.

On April 10, Ahmad Samsuri stated that he had been marked and flagged as a person under surveillance by authorities since mid-last year.

Razarudin dismissed this claim as "completely baseless," asserting that there was no justification for flagging him since he is not viewed as a criminal. – April 13, 2025
