LIAM’s golden jubilee: celebrating 50 years with new campaigns and CSR initiative
For each of the first 5,000 submissions, LIAM will donate RM10 to five selected NGOs and social enterprises - October 7, 2024

THE Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) recently marked its 50th anniversary with the launch of two campaigns: #LIAMGoldenMoments and #LifeisFullofSurprises.

These initiatives aim to educate Malaysians on life insurance and financial planning, run from June to November 2024, and offer over RM45,000 in cash prizes.

The campaigns also aim to raise RM50,000 for selected non-governmental organisations (NGOs), celebrating LIAM’s five decades of service to the industry.

The #LIAMGoldenMoments campaign encourages Malaysians to share cherished memories through personal video submissions.

For each of the first 5,000 submissions, LIAM will donate RM10 to five selected NGOs and social enterprises, including the Association of Learning Disabilities District of Petaling (GOLD), Suri Lifestyle, Persatuan Wanita & Ibu Tunggal (WITUS), Reef Check Malaysia, and The Asli Co./Ajar Society. The total donation target is RM50,000.

Participants will also be eligible for prizes in categories such as Weekly Lucky Draw, Most Creative Video, and Most Impactful Video, fostering community engagement while supporting meaningful causes.

Running concurrently, the #LifeisFullofSurprises campaign promotes awareness of the importance of life insurance in protecting families from unforeseen events and encourages financial literacy.

This campaign will reward 100 weekly winners with RM50 each as part of its goal to reinforce the message of financial security.

Founded in 1974, LIAM represents 16 members, including 14 life insurance companies and two life reinsurance companies.

As a leading voice in the life insurance industry, LIAM plays a key role in advocating financial protection and partnering with the government on social protection initiatives.

Over the past 50 years, LIAM has been instrumental in supporting Malaysia’s economic development, promoting financial literacy, and enhancing public understanding of life insurance.

“LIAM’s 50th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the positive impact we’ve had on Malaysians’ lives,” said LIAM Chief Executive Officer, Mark O'Dell.

“Through our #LIAMGoldenMoments and #LifeisFullofSurprises campaigns, we aim to not only raise awareness about the benefits of life insurance but also give back to the community that has supported us for five decades.”
