DESPITE the rapid advancements in communication technology, such as mobile phones, to send festive greetings, King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim has opted for the traditional method of sending Hari Raya cards this Aidilfitri.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim revealed that he personally signed Hari Raya cards, which would then be sent to a list of recipients as approved by His Majesty.

This annual tradition is particularly dear to the King, as it harkens back to a time before the rise of modern communication tools. The post highlighted how this tradition continues to hold a special place in his heart.

"Once upon a time, there were no mobile phones, no SMS, no WhatsApp, and so on," Sultan Ibrahim reflected in his message. "This was how we kept in touch—by sending cards, writing greetings, and signing them personally."

His Majesty’s words encapsulate the charm and meaning of this time-honoured practice, emphasising the personal touch and thoughtfulness it embodies. - March 23, 2025
