After quitting Cabinet, Rafizi now ‘dabbling with the Dark Side’
Rafizi previously announced his resignation from the Cabinet effective June 17 - June 19, 2025

AFTER resigning from his Cabinet post, former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli made the most of his free time by indulging in two activities he likes but rarely did before, namely reading and watching movies.

Through a Facebook post, Rafizi also showed his 'other side' by wearing a Darth Vader helmet who is a character  in the Star Wars series, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ which was gifted to him by one of his staff.

“We get inspiration from many things. Each one has its own unique thing that inspires us. I grew up loving reading and watching both science fiction and fantasy movies.

“Among my reading and viewing lists are Star Wars, Lord of the Rings (The Trilogy, Hobbits, Silmarillion), Wheel of Times (13 books in total), Star Trek, Dunes, Shannara and Harry Potter.

“There is only one thing I haven’t finished yet, which is Game of Thrones ... I need to finish it,” he shared in a post.

Rafizi previously announced his resignation from the Cabinet effective June 17 after failing to defend the position of Deputy President of the PKR party elections.

He stated that the defeat meant he no longer had the mandate to continue the party's agenda in government and stressed the importance of accountability in politics.

Rafizi ended his tenure by finalizing the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which placed emphasis on educational reforms and hoped that the reforms would continue even though he was no longer in Cabinet. - June 19, 2025
