WHEN we forgive someone, we free ourselves. It’s a part of a beautiful, liberating and sometimes painful process of letting go but once we forgive someone, we feel so much lighter. It allows the heart to expand with more love, light and compassion. We might experience a subtle or profound shift that enables newfound possibilities to come our way, because forgiveness helps us to dissolve the ego or the chains of the past.
How can we forgive? One way is through the practice of Ho’oponopono.
Ho’oponopono is the Hawaiian practice of healing through forgiveness. The word “ho’o” means “cause” in Hawaiian, while “ponopono” means “perfection”.The term “ho’oponopono” can be translated as “correct a mistake” or “make it right”.
Ho’oponopono consists of four mantras:
1. I’m sorry
2. Forgive me
3. I love you
4. I am grateful
This simple yet profound practice of saying these mantras with intentions from the heart can help us in letting go of past issues, ‘wrongs’, and situations that no longer serve us. It is about taking full responsibility for our actions.
In this video, Jojo takes us through a beautiful Ho’oponopono exercise to forgive those who have hurt or wronged us, and that person can sometimes be ourselves. – The Vibes, December 26, 2020
