India-based medical technology company Meril has established its first academy in Malaysia as part of its efforts to expand its clinical education network and strengthen healthcare professional training in the region.
The Meril Academy in Kuala Lumpur will serve as a platform for healthcare professionals to participate in clinical training, simulation-based learning, workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on emerging medical technologies.
The company said Malaysia was selected as the location for the new academy due to its healthcare ecosystem, strategic position in Southeast Asia and potential as a regional hub for medical innovation and education.
Meril, president of global government affairs Dr Vibhav Garg, said the academy was aimed at bridging the gap between medical innovation and clinical application by providing healthcare professionals with access to training and collaboration opportunities.
“While innovation drives the development of advanced medical technologies, education empowers healthcare professionals to apply them with confidence and precision,” he said during the launch.
The Kuala Lumpur facility is the latest addition to Meril’s global academy network, which now comprises 11 centres across India, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Türkiye, Russia, the United States and Malaysia.
According to the company, Meril Academies conducted more than 150 educational programmes and workshops in the 2025–26 financial year, involving over 6,000 healthcare professionals through expert-led sessions, practical training and scientific exchanges.
Meril, founded in 2006 and headquartered in Vapi, India, operates across more than 150 countries through over 45 subsidiaries.
The company develops and manufactures medical technologies covering areas including cardiovascular care, structural heart procedures, orthopaedics, endoscopic surgery, surgical robotics, ear, nose and throat (ENT) solutions as well as diagnostics.
With the launch of its Malaysian academy, Meril said it aims to expand clinical education opportunities for healthcare professionals in Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region. - July 17, 2026
