THE rise in Covid-19 cases and the return of the movement control order (MCO 2.0) may have foiled all festive travel plans for the lunar New Year.
But fret not, technology may just provide the answer. Virtual reunion dinners disregard the need for inter-stare and inter-district travels.
What’s more, diners can even order and savour the same dishes through the Reunion Dinner packages. Put together by Dignity for Children Foundation, it is a way for Malaysians to come together even though they may be physically apart.
Dignity for Children Foundation is a non-governmental organisation that provides holistic care and education for urban poor children between the ages of two to 18 in Kuala Lumpur.
On offer are three Reunion Dinner meal packages – (1) Yee Sang, (2) Five-spice Roast Chicken Family Meal and (3) Chicken Rice set. The packages are prepared by eat X, one of Dignity’s transformational enterprises.
Dignity’s Yee Sang comes with freshly-grated vegetable, pomelo, fried wanton and zesty plum sauce. The good news is, no chemical or preservatives are added. And, if you are not a fan of Yee Sang, there’s the Chicken Rice Set with its succulent whole roast chicken complete with sauces and four servings of buttered rice.

Can’t decide? Order both under the Five-spice Roast Chicken Family Meal option which includes mango pudding dessert for four persons and a packet of Flower Tea.
Dignity co-founder Elisha Satvinder said: “Holistic and affordable education have always been the focus of Dignity. This is why we have set up transformational enterprises that bring together the best of academic learning and hands-on, real-world experiences for a vibrant education. Real-life training helps youth to develop life skills, employability skills and character.
“This is evident from the ideas generated by the team in coming up with these special Lunar New Year packages. Each purchase will help Dignity to sustain our skills training programmes and classes.”

The Family Meal pack is priced at RM138.80 while the a la carte order of Yee Sang and Chicken Rice Meal is priced at RM59.90 each. Orders can be picked up directly from eat X café. Delivery is also available within the Klang Valley for a small fee.
In addition to the meal packages, bake X, another of Dignity’s transformation enterprise, is baking three varieties of Unity Cookies – Walnut Chocolate Chip, Almond & Cranberry Butter and Matcha & White Chocolate Chip. Dignity can arrange for delivery is within the Klang Valley although charges apply.
