MY EG Services Bhd (MyEG) has announced it is pioneering the use of deep throat saliva-based testing for the Covid-19 virus in Malaysia with the introduction of an at-home screening service in collaboration with BP Healthcare.

“Through this first-of-its-kind deep throat saliva-based test service in the country, MyEG will not only be providing the Malaysian public with access to a safe and non-invasive test method but also one that is fast, affordable and convenient as sample collection can be done from the safety and comforts of one’s own home or workplace,” it said in a statement.

Starting from March 1, customers can visit MyEG’s online portal www.myeg.com.my to book appointments for the collection of samples at their homes or workplaces by authorised MyEG personnel using the test kit.

Samples will be processed at BP Healthcare’s network of laboratories, with test results available as early as the next working day on the MyQR by MyEG mobile application.

The service will be offered at RM150 per test, excluding delivery charges which will vary depending on location.

The launch of the saliva-based diagnostic kit makes Malaysia the second country where MyEG is introducing this innovative approach aimed at helping in the ongoing global fight against the pandemic by accelerating and enhancing screening. Earlier this month, the Group unveiled a similar service in the Philippines.

In introducing this new approach, MyEG aims to make testing more accessible while at the same time ensuring better protection for people and frontline healthcare providers by reducing the need for close contact since samples can be collected within the confines of home or the workplace.

The enhancement of early accurate detection and subsequent early intervention would in turn be instrumental in containing the spread and impact of the Covid-19 virus.

This hassle-free approach to testing being made available by MyEG is consistent with the provision of convenient, doorstep delivery of a slew of government and commercial services that the Group is well-known for throughout its 21-year history as the nation’s leading digital services provider. – The Vibes, February 26, 2021
