THE dUCk Group and Viva Palestina Malaysia (VPM) have raised RM1,000,000 in emergency funds in two days to support the Palestinian victims in Al Aqsa and Gaza.

The emergency fund was set up via Kitafund and will be used to provide medical aid and other critical needs for those affected in Palestine.

The group which aimed to reach the target by the end of May will continue to raise more funds to provide added support. 100% of the proceeds raised through the fund will be donated to the Palestinians.

"My heart breaks when reading the news of what is happening in Palestine. I've had sleepless nights thinking of what more can I do. As a mother, seeing footages of the children there has hit me hard.

"So, I've decided to use my platform to keep raising awareness about the issue and to start a fundraiser with VPM to help Palestinians with medical aid and more,” said Vivy Yusof, co-founder of The dUCk Group.

“Alhamdulilah, in just two days, we've raised RM1 million and is the most successful fund I've seen to date! This shows that so many people care – the donations are pouring in not just from Malaysia, but from all over the world!

"People are donating whatever amount they can afford, from RM1 to RM1,000. Parents have messaged me on Instagram telling me their children are donating from their recent duit raya and that is so touching!

Since the launch of the fund, Muslims and non-Muslims from Brunei, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Philippines, Qatar, Jeddah, USA, UK, Kazakhstan, Scotland, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ireland, Sri Lanka and France have donated for the cause showing that the world is coming together for Palestine.

"It's truly amazing to see the world rise to help Palestine. The fact that these inhumane acts are still happening in 2021 is beyond me and we must come together to put a stop to it. Even though we’ve hit target, we want to keep going and donate as much as we can, so we hope everyone will continue contributing,” said Vivy.

Viva Palestina Malaysia, formerly known as Complete, is a coalition of 50 Malaysian non-governmental organisations (NGOs). They strive to provide an advocacy group for the Palestinian people and support in raising funds to finance various medical, educational, micro-financing, housing, and agricultural projects in Palestine.

Kitafund has committed to channel 50% of the donation fees collected on the platform back to the emergency fund set-up. Kitafund is a crowdfunding platform for medical and humanitarian needs and emergencies.

Through this crowdfunding page, Kitafund hopes that the less fortunate will have access to medical care and the community can support various humanitarian efforts together.

As a brand, the dUCk group will also be launching a special collection, “The Palestine dUCk” in June where 100% of the profit from the collection will be donated to VPM. Through the collection, customers will be able to own a product from dUCk while providing extra support to the cause. – The Vibes, May 20, 2021
