KUALA LUMPUR – This is an all-new second generation BMW X4. It arrived in Malaysia last year with its coupe-like roofline, athletic curves and distinct M Sport characteristics to challenge the Mercedes GLC Coupe.
Muscular looks with flared wheel housings accentuates the character of this vehicle that is designed to be taken off the beaten path but it will never see that path with its Malaysian owners.

With the distinctive M Sport aerodynamic optics, 20” M Double-spoke wheels, and M Sport Brakes, this Sports Activity Coupe wants to make a sporting and dynamic statement wherever it goes.
This second generation BWW X4 features a long bonnet, low windscreen with acoustic glass fitted to reduce wind noise, and a coupe-style roofline for a sporty, dynamic appearance.
This BMW X4 has an increased length of 4,752mm (+81mm) and width of 1,918mm (+37mm). Its wheelbase is now 2,864mm (+54mm) but with a lower roofline of 1,621mm (-3mm). Its character is defined by an extremely athletic shoulder area as well as the slim, wrap-around taillights with their three-dimensional styling.

The higher percentage of light-weight aluminium and high-strength steel components has reduced the vehicle’s weight by up to 50 kilograms, offering the best-in-class Cd value of 0.30. Its centre of gravity is now even lower than before. Benefiting from an almost perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution, this BMW X4 presents superior steering precision, more agile handling and significantly improved ride comfort.

Standard equipment for the vehicle includes xDrive all-wheel drive, Adaptive Suspension, Variable Sport Steering, electronic differential lock, Hill-Start Assistant, Hill Descent Control along with Performance Control that distributes engine and braking control to the individual wheels when turning.

This is a segment that BMW wants to ‘play’ in and its immediate rival is the Mercedes GLC Coupe which is about the same size and power output and sells for RM419,888. This 2nd generation model made its first appearance in 2018 and in May 2019 it arrived in Malaysia at a selling price of RM375,800.
So, here below are eight reasons why should you look at this BMW SUV before venturing into a Mercedes-Benz dealership.
1. To start, its 4-cylinder, 1997cc petrol engine delivers a sensible 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds.
2. The top speed it can reach is a sensible 250km/h.
3. Once behind the wheel you will realize it drives just like a BMW sedan despite its raised driving height.
4. The coupe profile allows for quite a large luggage area at the back.
5. The coupe like silhouette gives its presence on the road as it does not look like a regular Crossover.
6. The asking prices makes it rather exclusive which means you will not see many others on the road.
7. It has a proper all wheel drive system to make sure you stay safe on the road.
8. Its selling price is about RM44,000 less than its immediate rival from Stuttgart.
