Astro working with NGOs Food Aid Foundation and MakanKongsi2.0 has provided food supplies to the needy in the Klang Valley

#KitaTeguhBersama: Astro provides food packs to 800

AS part its National Day #KitaTeguhBersama programme, Astro worked with NGOs, Food Aid Foundation and MakanKongsi2.0 to present daily essential packs to 800 B-40 families in the Klang Valley. The total packs weighing 8 tonnes comprising of food essentials such as rice, flour and sugar, were donated by Astro staff as part of the company’s staff volunteer programme.

Earlier in the month Astro staff also volunteered their services at one of the national vaccination centre (PPV) in Klang Valley, playing their part in #KitaTeguhBersama.

“It is a very special  Merdeka and National Day for us this year and our theme, #KitaTeguhBersama means we’re stronger and better together," said Tammy Toh, Astro's Director, Group Marketing and Communications.

"It is a reflection of the best of what we have seen in Malaysians and continues to be the common value we need for us to unite, recover and grow through these times. We are pleased to be able to work with Food Aid Foundation and MakanKongsi2.0 to help deserving families within our  communities.” 

Astro has carried out several initiatives in line with the #KitaTeguhBersama spirit including: 

  • Supporting the National Blood Bank’s blood donation drive 
  • Supporting the nation’s Covid-19 Immunisation drive with Public Service Announcements, volunteering at PPVs and providing TVs and Astro services at quarantine centres nationwide
  • Helping the needy through KamiCare community programmes  
  • Helping SMEs through KamiCare MBiz campaign  
  • Contributing medical equipment for hospitals and laptops to students in the B40 groups
  • Continuing to inform, entertain and uplift Malaysians with complimentary channels during the MCO, non-stop dramas, new signatures, and premium original series 
  • Increasing our academic content to enable kids to learn from home

“We are delighted that Team Astro participated in our programme to contribute essential food items for the deserving in the community," said Neoh Kean Soon, Food Aid Foundation Operation Director.

We are thankful that Malaysians have proven to be caring and empathetic towards the less fortunate and we hope more companies will come forward to assist as there are many families who require assistance.”

“Everyday we are reaching out to more than a thousand beneficiaries in need of food aid through our national food aid network. Through Astro’s care pack and food donation, it helps us help those who are in need,” said Law Gin Kye, MakanKongsi2.0 Chairman.
