IN commemoration with the month of Merdeka and Malaysia, the Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia (JaPen) is inviting all Malaysians to show their love for the country via a rewarding contest held on the leading destination for short-form mobile videos, TikTok. Called the #MalaysiaPrihatin contest, the initiative aims to drive patriotism and positive inspiration while offering the opportunities for participants to win cash prizes up to RM1,500.
“TikTok is thrilled to hold this meaningful contest on the platform. It's been a tough year for a lot of us, but one thing for certain is that the spirit of Malaysia is still roaring within us. The TikTok platform has a vast community of Malaysian creators sharing a variety of videos with their creativity all while spreading positivity during these times.
"We hope that the #MalaysiaPrihatin challenge will motivate more Malaysian TikTok users to share their patriotic stories with other Malaysians while staying safe at home,” stated Darren Quek, TikTok Malaysia's Strategy Operations Manager.
From August 24th until September 16th, creators from the ages of 7-50 are encouraged to submit their creative original videos of being uniquely Malaysian, accompanied by the nostalgic "Saya Anak Malaysia" tune made popular by Dr Sam and Musafir, to be in the running to win some of these exciting rewards.
To participate in the #MalaysiaPrihatin challenge, just follow these simple steps:
- Follow @JapenTV on TikTok
- Create original videos that reflects all things Malaysian (food, dance, make up, phrases, traditions are some examples)
- Use the 'Saya Anak Malaysia' song on TikTok (compulsory, different versions accepted)
- Include the hashtag #MalaysiaPrihatin & tag @japentv in the caption
- TikTok videos can either be in English or Malay
JaPen is giving away a total of RM7,300 to 11 lucky creators from the contest in two categories – which are the Open Category and the Most-Likes Category. The creators will receive an in-app notification on TikTok when the winners are announced on September 24.
Open Category:
- Gold prize (1 winner): RM 1,500 Cash & Certificate
- Silver prize (1 winner): RM 1,000 Cash & Certificate
- Bronze prize (1 winner): RM 800 Cash & Certificate
- Consolation prize (7 winners): RM 500 Cash & Certificate
