IN a move similar to how the newest line-up of iPhones has received a price bump in territories outside of the United States, the software side of Apple is also getting pricier. The most likely culprit is the inflation sweeping the globe for a variety of reasons that are beyond the scope of this article.

In a short three paragraph note to developers, Apple announced that this change will start taking effect next month, beginning on with both apps and in-store purchases feeling the pinch.

However, auto-renewable subscriptions won’t be affected by the price increase, and developers can choose to retain their app’s current prices for existing subscribers.

The countries named outright by Apple – in addition to Malaysia – are Chile, Egypt, Japan, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and all territories that use the Euro – except for Montenegro.

There is also a detailed chart that lists out all the new price tiers, for those interested in getting into the nitty gritty of all the numbers.

However, despite all that, a clear reason for the price hike was not given by the Cupertino-based tech giant, the most profitable country in the world.

This development shouldn’t be all too surprising considering the Ringgit is plumbing all new lows in comparison with the US Dollar, numbers not seen since the financial crisis of 1997. – The Vibes, September 21, 2022
