HAVAL has been established in Malaysia for some years now and they have had a decent amount of sales with their early compact SUVs and pickup trucks. Lately, their sales have tumbled with the introduction of the Geely BoYue rebadged as the Proton X70 which has seen very good sales to date.
This all new Haval is a handsome SUV from Great Wall Motors and it comes with generous features all around. It will be an exciting product to rival the Proton X70, if and when it is launched at the right asking price – below RM110,000.

H6 on Test
In July this year this latest Haval H6 SUV was spotted on Malaysian roads and till today there has been no indication of its possible launch date. The spotted unit carried Malaysian registration and was seen being driven around Putrajaya. If it carried a competitive selling price, assuming it got all the necessary local assembled requirements done, this will be the next Chinese automotive brand to make an impact in our auto sector.
Platform
This Haval H6 is built on Great Wall Motors' latest billion-dollar global platform which is called ‘Lemon’ – for lightweight, electrification, multi-purpose, omni-protection and network – and is designed to meet the latest efficiency, power and safety standards.

This well known Chinese brand is touting three world firsts in its H6 which is an internal-combustion engine (ICE) that is upgradable through over-the-air updates, an ICE with 5G connectivity and a mainstream SUV with automated drive features.
New Haval H6 platform and measurements
- 4,655 mm in length
- 1,886mm width (+51mm)
- 1,700 mm high (equal)
- 2,660mm wheelbase (-60mm)

New Haval H6 design
The silhouette of the H6 2021 is quite traditional and the overall design is elegant and proportionate. The biggest changes are seen up front, including a hexagonal grill, whose lower area is wider than the upper one. LED lights come with sharper angles. There is an all-new bumper, with triangular air intakes where the DRL lights are hidden.
The interior of the new SUV also impresses, with several interesting elements like two displays, one 10.2" for the digital instrument panel and the other 12.3" for the multimedia system and a rotary control for the gearshift. There is also a heads-up display, latest wireless charging system, electrically adjustable seats, ambient lighting, two-zone climate control and a power button with keyless system.
New Haval H6 engine
Under the hood, this H6 will have a 1.5 Turbo four-cylinder engine, similar to that used by the H2 launched two years ago but now it will deliver 169hp and 285 Nm of torque against the 141hp and 210 Nm of the older H2. In addition, it will also have a 2.0 Turbocharged engine which generates 190hp and 315 Nm of torque. In both versions the H6 will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Haval also includes a host of comfort features as follows:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Automatic park assist
- Lane change assistant and warning
- Driver fatigue monitor
- Recognition of traffic signs
- Forward collision warning with pedestrian detector.
The H6 SUV is the first SUV with artificial intelligence, capable of being updated online and with 5G connectivity. Be on the lookout for details on this SUV when we get confirmation of its launch date in Malaysia. – The Vibes, November 25, 2020
