IT was a night of wine, pizza, and merriment as Roberto’s 1020 Osteria celebrated its 2nd anniversary yesterday.

Among the VIPs and famous faces attending the event were PETRA Lifestyle President Roberto Guiati and PETRA Group Chairman and Chief Executive Datuk (Dr) Vinod Sekhar, who both offered words of appreciation to kickoff the night.

“I’m very, very grateful and so honoured because without you we wouldn’t be here tonight. Just a small thing we can do to appreciate your loyalty and the fact that you supported us all this time,” said Guiati.

“We were considered mad, we opened this place in the middle of the pandemic, soon after we started there was a shutdown. I’m proud, because Roberto and I assured that we would not let go of any staff, we kept this going, we maintained the staff, we maintained the work, we delivered lots of pizzas,” said Vinod.

“It’s showed what perseverance and dedication can do, it’s shown what belief in an idea, in a team, what that can do.”

In conjunction with the event, PETRA Lifestyle announced the launch of Roberto’s Pronto, an Italian deli store in Ara Damansara, as well as a central kitchen to boost the operations of Roberto’s and Luce’s restaurants.

Pronto – currently planned to begin operations early next year – will stock a variety of cheeses, cold cuts, olive oil, meats etc, and also serve Roberto’s famous pizzas as part of the takeaway menu to cater to surrounding areas. Customers will be able to order the pizzas via food delivery apps.

Guiati said, “Our vision for Roberto’s Pronto is to emulate a typical neighbourhood grocery store that you can find in an Italian village. We want to offer authentic Italian food ingredients and fresh Roberto’s pizza to Ara Damansara and Subang areas.”

“Apart from the deli store, our central kitchen will also be operational in view of the expansion plans that we have for the Roberto’s and Luce restaurants. The central kitchen will allow our F&B group to maintain the high quality and standards of the food served at our restaurants in a more cost-effective way,” he added.

Vinod said Roberto’s 2nd year anniversary is a milestone as it proved that with tenacity and hard work, it can sustain and come this far.

“This journey has taught us perseverance, and it has also showed that we are capable of establishing a successful, unique, authentic Italian restaurant brand in Malaysia and take it around the globe from here,” he said. – The Vibes, December 7, 2022
