WHAT would you do if you suddenly discovered more RM400 million in your bank account?

For Hafidzah Abdullah, the sudden “jackpot” was simply a tiring and tedious experience.

Relating her experience in her LinkedIn account, she said she discovered that RM400,040,404.04 had been credited into her personal Maybank bank account.

“You would think I hit the lottery, right? Well, not really, it was a banking glitch.

“Now, Maybank has blocked my account without any calls, messages or notifications at all.

“To unlock it, I had to visit the nearest Maybank branch and the officer called customer service to unblock it. This took forever and it was not my mistake,” she said.

Hafidzah said she encountered three days of Maybank glitches during the salary payout period, describing it as a comedy of errors that no one finds funny.

“My personal account got blocked, the company account was unusable (SECURE2U is not working), and visiting Maybank has become my new daily routine,” the director and co-founder of Malaysia HR Forum said.

In the comments section of her post, Maybank group customer experience management head Shaikh Munir Ahmad replied Hafidzah, asking her to provide her contact number so his team could follow up on the matter.

He said Hafidzah could also reach out to the bank’s customer care team.

“Will certainly have this checked and resolved for you but need you to provide details,” he said.

Others who commented on her post asked in jest what she would do with the large sum of money.

Another comment read, “At least you had the experience of becoming a multi-millionaire for a moment”.

Hafidzah also wrote that the matter had since been resolved and she could now access her personal and company accounts. – The Vibes, December 1, 2023.
