LAWYER and social activist Siti Kasim, being tongue-in-cheek, said the move by a water park near Sg Petani which has restricted the use of its pools to Muslims only was actually “very good”.

In a video posted on Facebook, Siti said it was a good move as some only wanted to be around “those like them”.

“It is a good move. Some only want to be around people like them, those who share the same ideology on what is permissible and what is not.

“So, let those who want to jump into the pool in their long pants and t-shirts, let them do so... go ahead.

“People like us... those who do not care and mind their own business can continue to use other places which are non-judgemental.

“We can go to those places where everyone is welcome, regardless of race or religion.

“The ones who do not want to be seen with those who are wearing bikinis and such can please go to this water park... it is good, I like it,” she said.

Her video was in response to a story by The Vibes about the Berangan Aqua Park in Kg Kelang Makau.

A cordial and friendly staff member, who asked not to be named, had confirmed that the pools are restricted to Muslims.

He reasoned that the facility is small and the management caters to local villagers in the nearby Kuala Muda area who are predominantly Muslims. – The Vibes, February 5, 2024
