Passengers escape tragedy after bus catches fire on highway

PASSENGERS aboard an express bus were left terrified and fearing for their lives when the bus they were traveling in caught fire.

The terrifying night incident occurred at KM 242.3 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound.

It left 16 individuals onboard, including the driver, in a state of panic.

The bus, engulfed in flames, suffered extensive damage, estimated to be around 80%.

All passengers and driver were rescued by the fire brigade and continued their journey on another bus later.

Fire and Rescue Department Operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fawwaz Abdul Jamil reported that the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP) promptly responded to the distress call received at approximately 12.01am.

The fire was extinguished by 1.34am. – April 22, 2024.
