FILM director and critic Mansor Puteh was killed in an accident at Jalan Alam Damai in Cheras this morning.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the accident occurred at about 10.10am.

"We believe the 71-year-old victim lost control of his vehicle before hitting a road divider. He suffered a severe head injury and died at the scene of the accident,"

"He was driving a Proton Iswara and was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident,” he said in a statement today.

He said the case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mansor previously directed the movie "Seman" in 1988 and developed a 48-minute documentary on Tunku Abdul Rahman titled "Residency Years".
