THE mechanism for adjusting civil servants’ salaries will be announced in August, coinciding with the launch of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
In a written reply, she said the announcement would be made during the 19th Civil Service Premier Assembly.
“The Public Service Department will issue a Service Circular regarding the implementation of SSPA, which will explain the relevant mechanisms,” she said in response to ex-prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Pagoh-PN).
Muhyiddin had inquired about the details of the salary adjustment mechanism, including the feasibility study and the additional resources estimated at RM10 billion to cover the projected increase in operating expenses.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a more than 13% increase in civil servants’ remuneration, one of the highest in Malaysia’s history, during this year’s Labour Day celebration.
The increase will be effective from December 1 this year. – July 11, 2024.
